Los diferentes elementos en la Astrología China
Asi como a cada año lunar chino le corresponde un animal diferente, cada animal se tiñe con el ELEMENTO que rige el año.
Los elementos son cinco y es fácil identificarlos:
El primero es el METAL, que se transforma en vasija y puede contener al AGUA. El agua vuelve en lluvia que genera la MADERA, de la madera nace el FUEGO, y el fuego vuelve en cenizas a la TIERRA. De la tierra se extrae el METAL... y comienza nuevamente el ciclo!
Pero, a su vez, el METAL depende del FUEGO para tomar forma, el FUEGO se extingue con AGUA, y la TIERRA absorbe al AGUA y la contiene. La MADERA es la riqueza de la TIERRA, y a los arboles los corta el METAL.
Asi fluyen en uno y otro sentido los cinco elementos.
A las personas nacidas en un año terminado en 0 o en 1 les corresponde el METAL. Como ejemplo, ahora estamos viviendo el Año del Gato de Metal, y a las nacidas en un año terminado en 2 o en 3 les corresponde el AGUA. Aquellos nacidos en un año que termine en 4 o en 5 tendran a la MADERA como elemento, y quienes nacen en un año terminado en 6 o 7 les corresponde el FUEGO. Finalmente, quienen nacen en un año terminado en 8 o 9 pertenecen al elemento TIERRA... de la que se extrae el Metal...
A las caracteristicas de cada animal se le pueden agregar entonces las propias del ELEMENTO del año, y enriquecemos su descripción.
METAL
No es fácil influenciar a una persona nacida en un año METAL. Tampoco lo es que acepten ayuda a menos que la soliciten ya que trazan sus propios caminos y vencen los obstáculos. Pero aunque parezcan inflexibles tienen la enorme capacidad de transmitir energía y movilizar a los demás.
AGUA
Poseen una habilidad extrema para comunicarse con los demás e influenciarlos con sus ideas sin parecer invasivos porque prefieren infiltrarse antes que dominar. A veces les convendría exhibir una actitud más agresiva y seguir su intuición que nunca falla.
MADERA
Expansivos y cooperadores, se apegan a sus propios códigos éticos. Son buenos jefes porque saben clasificar y separar un equipo de trabajo para beneficio de todos. Si evitan asumir más responsabilidades de las que pueden manejar terminarían su trabajo con menor desgaste.
FUEGO
Su actitud positiva y agresiva, unida a su poder de decisión y seguridad en sí mismos los transforma en excelentes líderes. Deben, sin embargo, poner freno a sus emociones porque su entusiasmo y ambición pueden pasar por impaciencia y desconsideración.
TIERRA
Prudentes y objetivos, pueden maximizar el rendimiento del esfuerzo propio y ajeno. Necesitan mantener la perspectiva de las cosas y son por naturaleza muy conservadores. Pueden, sin embargo, ser poco imaginativos o parecer pesimistas y sobreprotectores.

The different ELEMENTS in Chinese astrology
As to every Chinese Lunar year belongs a different animal, each animal in time corresponds to the ELEMENT that rules the year.
There are five elements and they are easy to identify.
The first one is METAL, which can be turned into a vessel to carry WATER. Water transformed in rain feeds WOOD. With wood we make FIRE, which turns into ashes and returns to EARTH. Out of Earth we get Metal and the cycle starts all over again!
On the other side, METAL is forged with FIRE, FIRE is put out by WATER, and WATER is hold or absorbed by EARTH. EARTH wastes itself without WOOD, and trees are cut by METAL.
Thus the ELEMENTS flow in one sense or another.
People born in a year ending in 0 or 1 are METAL: right now, 2011, we are in the year of the Metal Cat, or Rabbit. They are followed by those born in years ending in 2 or 3, or WATER years. Water is followed by WOOD years, ending in 4 and 5. Endings 6 or 7 are FIRE years and the last in the cycle are EARTH years, ending in 8 and 9. And out of Earth we get Metal…
We can add the ELEMENT of the year to the description of each animal to enrich our view.
METAL
It isn’t easy to influence a person ruled by Metal. They will not accept any help unless they ask for it for they set their own paths and overcome their own obstacles. But though they may appear inflexible they have great energy and are positive and contagious leaders.
WATER
They have a great ability to communicate and influence people with their ideas without appearing invasive as they rather infiltrate than dominate. Sometimes they could do more by being assertive and using their almost never failing intuition.
WOOD
They are expansive and love to cooperate. They value their own ethics and make good executives for they know how to classify and organize a working team. If they avoid assuming more responsibilities that they can manage they would be able to finish every task without wearing away.
FIRE
They are positive and aggressive. Their power of decision and self confidence make excellent leaders of them. They should, however, restrain their emotions for their enthusiasm and ambition may pass for impatience and thoughtlessness.
EARTH
Prudent and objective, they know how to make the most out of their own and others’ effort. Conservative by nature they need to keep things and events in perspective. They may, however, appear as lacking imagination, pessimistic or overprotective.
